ROLE OVERVIEW


About the role:

Cable & Splicing Services (CASS) CASS is delivering a major UK-wide contract with Openreach, supporting the recovery and removal of legacy copper infrastructure across the BT network.


We are now looking for experienced Heavy Duty Cable Recovery Gangs to support mechanised cable recovery operations. Working as part of a national delivery programme, you will be responsible for completing cable extraction activities safely, efficiently, and in line with required standards.


This is a hands-on, field-based role, suited to established gangs who are confident working in live network environments and delivering high-quality work.


Initial works will be based in Bristol and Swindon, with ongoing deployment across the UK as the programme progresses.

What you’ll be doing:

As a 2-Man Cable able recovery gang, you will play a key role in delivering large-scale infrastructure recovery works. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out mechanised cable recovery using cable recovery trailers and  winches

  • Working in line with Openreach and site-specific health & safety requirements

  • Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards

  • Identifying and reporting any safety, environmental, or operational issues

  • Maintaining equipment and vehicles in line with operational requirements

Working collaboratively as a gang to deliver against programme targets


What we're looking for:

We are looking for experienced, reliable and self-sufficient gang cable gangs who can deliver work safely and efficiently as part of a wider programme. You will be:

  • Experienced in cable recovery, cabling, or utilities environments

  • A well-organised gang, ready to mobilise quickly

  • Committed to high standards of health & safety and quality

  • Comfortable working outdoors in a range of environments

  • Able to work collaboratively and meet programme targets


Required skills and experience:

To be considered, gangs must hold:

  • K010 Mechanised Cable Recovery – Cable Recovery Trailer

  • SA002 & SA006

  • NRSWA Unit O1

  • Medium Risk Confined Spaces

  • NOPS Smart Awards Card

  • Full UK manual driving licence (minimum 12 months)

  • 7.5 Tonne Licence (Load Tipper)

  • Clear DBS

  • PIA experience (desirable but not essential)
