ROLE OVERVIEW
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to take on a key leadership role within our growing telecommunications business, working directly with the Finance Director to oversee financial reporting, management accounting and financial performance across the organisation.
This role will act as the number two within the finance function, providing financial insight and operational support to senior leadership while helping to strengthen financial processes and reporting as the business continues to grow.
Cable & Splicing Services (CASS) is a well-established telecommunications infrastructure specialist delivering fibre connectivity solutions across the UK. As the business continues to expand, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to take on a high-impact position with exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
The role is based at our Snitterfield Head Office near Stratford-upon-Avon, operating on a hybrid working model (80% office / 20% home).
What you’ll be doing:
As Finance Manager / Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the financial reporting and management accounting function while supporting the wider development of the finance function across the CASS Group.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts and associated reporting schedules
Owning the main trading Profit & Loss account, ensuring financial performance is clearly understood across the business
Providing financial analysis and commentary to senior management to support informed decision-making
Identifying financial trends, risks and opportunities and presenting recommendations to the Finance Director
Preparing month-end journals and maintaining key accounting schedules including WIP, accruals and prepayments
Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
Supporting the production of Board reporting and company KPIs
Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
Monitoring departmental performance against budgets and forecasts
Managing day-to-day cashflow forecasting and working capital oversight
Overseeing PAYE and CIS payroll processes, working with the external payroll provider
Managing VAT reporting and financial compliance across the group
Supporting the annual audit process and statutory reporting requirements
What we're looking for:
We’re seeking a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to provide meaningful financial insight to senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring:
A proactive and analytical approach to financial management
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial data into business insights
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and departmental leaders
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to support and develop finance team members
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Required skills and experience:
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or nearing completion)
3- 5 years experience in a management accounting or finance management role
Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
Experience producing financial modelling, analysis and forecasting
Experience managing or supervising finance staff
Experience supporting external audits and statutory reporting
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls
Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills
Experience working within a multi-entity or group structure (desirable)
Full UK driving licence (occasional travel between sites may be required)
